Environmental and Climate Crisis Committee
The Environmental and Climate Crisis committee works in accordance with the position statements of LWV US and LWV Ohio to assess current topics in the environment and the climate crisis. We work to educate the public on the relevant issues, to provide an opportunity for the community to engage in dialogue on these topics, and to motivate action to increase the sustainability of life on the planet.
Objectives:
Determine next steps on the Climate Investigations Forums in the age of Covid-19
Inform public on current state of climate and sustainability issues
How Committee Members help?
Accomplishments:
Conducted three community wide forums that educated the attendees about the effects of the Climate Crisis on the Hudson community.
Forums included subject matter experts, City government workers and others to speak at these forums.
Forums also included small group discussions about the topics presented.
Local and State media covered these forums
All Committee members, activities and events incorporate the following values:
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion:
The League of Women Voters of Hudson is an organization fully committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in principle and in practice. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the organization’s current and future success in engaging all individuals, households, communities, and policy makers in creating a more perfect democracy. It is our mission to dismantle and prevent all barriers to voting to ensure every person is able to exercise their Constitutional right to vote and fully participate in our nation’s democracy.
Nonpartisan Policy:
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
